‘Asian woman’ refers to many sub-categories. There are more than 40 different nationalities that could all qualify as ‘Asian’ so knowing the nationality is paramount. A Chinese woman could easily be offended by being called Japanese. An easy way around this is complimenting her look and then asking where her family originates. It is important not to confuse nationalities so unless you are completely certain, DO NOT GUESS. Like all woman, Asian woman do not like to be compared to others. Here’s an example of what not to say: ‘I like Asian woman’. Aside from being a racist remark, women like to feel special and unique so treat her as an individual and make her feel like a princess. It works for all cultures. ‘Yellow fever’ is noted amongst Asian circles. This awareness of western men with an Asian fetish could make them a little standoffish so make sure she knows that your not into it just for her race.
Asian women want a masculine man. Femininity is one of the alluring facts about these women and they want a man who is decisive, in control of his emotions and can be the provider and protector. So men, when you are chatting to your Asian women do not talk about your feelings and try not to be needy. Our Asian brothers don’t act in this way so it does not give you the ‘go ahead’ to do so. The plus side to this is that Asian women will wear the pants so long as you are confident, manly and in control of your self. They want to feel safe, so it is up to you to make them feel this way.
Look at the Hollywood heroes that are generally idolized in the Asian region, they are gentlemen with a ‘bad boy’ edge. Usually seen as strong, manly and the ‘take care of business’ type while being well presented and maybe even showing a softer side. Look at Leonardo Dicaprio and David Beckham. You don’t need to look like them, just follow their lead.
Asian women are not attracted to insecure, angry and jealous men. There I said it. This comes back to the fact that you must be decisive and let her do her own thing. She will return to you. Being in control of you emotions is the key lesson here. If you are not sure how to do this then go out and read ‘Emotional Intelligence’ by Daniel Goleman and take some notes.
Asian’s put a high value on education and wisdom so men, start reading. If you know what she is in to go to the library and read about it so that you will have something to talk about. She will be very interested to know about your pursuits and passions so make every effort to firstly, have a passion, and secondly, be prepared to share it with her. She wants to know that with you, she will become a better and well-rounded individual.
Never embarrass her by being loud, rude or a show off. They, like most women enjoy being treated like a lady so, open the door for them, take their coat and pay for dinner. These things can go a long way with this type of woman.
Now assuming that you know what country she is from, do some research! Impress her with your knowledge and interest in what she is about. Find out what foods she eats and if she is westernized learn to cook one of her native dishes. Small gestures like this show that you really care about what she is into and make her feel special.
Whatever you do, do not come across as a player or anyone that is not interested in any sort of a serious relationship. She needs to know that you have the capacity to become serious and committed. They come from a ‘high context culture’ with a long-term orientation. This means that they are thinking about their future when they are picking a partner. Brace yourself; a lot of these women have visions of their ideal future with a half Caucasian child. It is probably not recommended to mention marriage and children on the first date, but hint that you may be interested some day.
Asian women will be impressed if you own the latest high tech gadgets so don’t be ashamed to flash you iPhone, digital SLR or Kindle. Asian men know tonnes about this stuff and believe it or not unlike their western counterpart an Asian woman is usually impressed with your toys. Even show that your knowledgeable about computers. In their society this is valued as computers are associated with success and successful people.
Most importantly, you have to realise that Asian women have strong ties to their family, so the best thing you can do is try and impress this, given the chance. In some cultures the women is expected to support the family even though they are all capable of earning their own money. It is important to encourage this and do not enforce your western values of individualism on her. She will never turn her back on her family.
It should be noted that respect is vital for any date and especially so for someone of another culture.
